Jamie changes the culinary world with new iPhone app

Jamie changes the culinary world with new iPhone app

Yes readers, you heard right! Jamie Oliver released a brand new iPhone app called Jamie’s Recipes. This follows on the success of his previous (award-winning) app, 20 Minute Meals, which hit the top of the charts in the UK and the rest of the world since first released in 2009. With its consistent interface design and amazing food photography, this quick and easy-to-prepare recipes app will be a definite success!

The app, available for free download, comes with a “Taster Pack” of 12 recipes. It also includes step-by-step instruction cards, video tutorials and tips, as well as ways to prepare and cook the various recipes. Additional recipe packs are available at $2 each.

Each recipe contains 3 crucial steps to follow when creating that perfect dish:

Summary
Contains an overview of the dish, as well as links to relevant, helpful videos.

You’ll Need
This tab lists the equipment and ingredients necessary for each specific recipe.

Steps
Text and photo step-by-step guides on how to prepare the dish.

The virtual shopping list is a cool feature where you are able to add all your shopping needs and store it in one place. The app also automatically adjusts the number of ingredients needed if you’re cooking for more than 2 people. How smart!

However, the app lacks hands-free functionality (refer to Nigella’s Quick Collection app for example). It is also said to be very similar to the 20 Minute Meals app, just a little tweaked and revamped. Other than these minor issues, this app will surely change the way we cook.

What are you waiting for? Download the app, develop your culinary skills and become a Kitchen Queen (or King)…

The iPhone 4S-Perfect Phone For Recording Footage    by Emma Rosher

The release of the new iPhone 4 is nearly upon us and for the first time we now have a definite list of features that this new model will include. Multi media fans will be pleased to see the video recording capabilities of this model boosted to 1080P quality making it the ultimate phone for recording footage. Here we take a look at this facility in more detail.

Last years iPhone 4 saw the model embrace high definition recording with its 720P resolution. This figure relates to the number of horizontal lines that the camera can fit into the image. The new model offers 1080P and the result of the higher number of lines is an even clearer picture. Despite this new model looking the same as the iPhone 4 it actually incorporates a larger aperture which enables more light to pass through the cameras sensor. Together with the phones improved white balance facilities it means that you can now shoot crystal clear video is extremely low lighting conditions. An LED light is fitted on the models rear panel so if you do find the conditions a little too dark then this can be activated to throw a little light on the subject. A common problem with any portable recording equipment is that it is very hard to reduce the natural shake of your hand. Although these movements are tiny they are magnified when recording and can result in footage that is very difficult to watch. The 4S features image stabilisation that helps to minimise this and give you the clearest possible video footage.

The focusing features on the iPhone 4S are also very impressive. With traditional auto focus models the camera concentrates on whatever is in the middle of the screen. This is perfect when filming a person or focusing on a single object. If you are trying to film a landscape shot or something that features lots of detail you may not want the camera concentrating on that middle segment. This handset enables you to simply touch the part of the screen where you want your shot focused and the device does the rest. Regardless of what you are filming you can be sure that you are always focused on what you want and not what your phone thinks is best. The handset incorporates basic features that enable to trim your video clips if there is a segment that you do not require but if you want to get a little more advanced the excellent iMovie application is available from the App Store. This gives many editing features including the ability to overlay music and add titles, giving your end product a more polished and professional look.

The video capture feature on the iPhone 4S is one the very best currently available. Other models such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 also offer great features in this area but none rival the overall quality that is sported by the Apple device.

The iPhone 4S is coming soon and the Samsung Galaxy S2 is available now
